This is my business card. I just made another order because I feel like I should change the sound engineer / producer to Multi-Media Professional. other then that I think its a great looking card. All art work is original and created by me.

Week 8 EOC 5 Events Upcoming Events That Will Help Me Advance My Career

1. There is a beginners Voice Over Workshop located at The Voice Actors Studio. This is on 1510 W Horizon Ridge Pkwy suite #100 Henderson NV. This is $99.00 per person, and is a three hour hands on voice over experience, covering mic techniques, interpreting scripts, breathing, diction, different job opportunities in voice over and how the business works. We covered all of the beginning of my education here at The Art Institute of Las Vegas, but I can see this being an opportunity for me. I'm definitely no stranger when it comes to this and by being familiar with voice acting, striking up a conversation with someone here shouldn't be a problem. Especially someone that can be a potential client for me or a potential employer.

2. I will also attend the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters). This can be an opportunity for me in several ways. I can learn on innovative technology relating to my profession. I can meet people who are in positions that I would like to be in. These people can be potential employers or someone that knows people that can be potential employers. I can also meet potential clients there. Who knows, maybe after striking up a few conversations I can meet someone that needs my expertise. I can also using this as an opportunity to network and collect contacts.

3. The Composers Showcase of Las Vegas is a monthly showcase featuring music from some of Las Vegas best composers and songwriters. Also performed by some of the best performers and musicians. As a multi media professional I feel like I can enjoy this show and possibly striking up conversation with people in the industry. I can hand out my business cards and let these people that I have spoken to know that I exist, and the type of professional services I can offer them that can benefit there career.


4. I can also attend the Audio Engineering Society convention this coming March 6-8. in Hollywood, Ca.. This is a society that is devoted exclusively to audio technology. There are over 14,000 members, all contributing to the future of audio entertainment technology.I can open up plenty of opportunities for my self at this event. Shake a few hands, ask for a several business cards and find my self in a pool of success.

5. Last but not lease, I can attend the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) convention. This is a gathering of professionals who are all interested and thrive on the business of consumer technologies. I can learn about whats new in the market, and what to look for in the future. Once again here at this event, I can run into all kinds of people that will l help me further advance my professional career.

Week 7 EOC (Career Goals)

I'm always going to have career goals. I intentionally keep that a habit so that I stay on my toes and slim down the odds of losing out on a professional opportunity. There are some recent goals that I've achieved that I'd like to talk about. I was recently hired by a media group to engineer all audio work for an artist that they have been focusing on. I am required to use my audio production techniques, in order to fulfill these duties and by doing so, I set a good impression within the company. I was able to run a smooth recording session with the artist and by doing that, I was called in for another job with them. I also acoustically treated a small studio for an individual who needed to create a room for his mixing. We had a light conversation when we met, and the topic came up. I let the gentlemen know that I studied psycho-acoustics during my education as an audio production major and was able to receive a paid job opportunity by him to acoustically treat this room. I showed up to the appointment, made all my measurements, applied the mathematical equations needed to acoustically treat the room to his specified liking and within a matter of a week the job was done. He was impressed and told me that he will be giving me a call in the near future. Now I'm working on multiple projects from just these two clients, recording, mixing, and mastering projects. My point is, my career goal is to succeed in strengthening my reputation as a dependable, consistent, multimedia professional in the audio industry.

EOC Week 6 "Seduction of The Online Surfer"

One idea that I have in mind to make my home page more appealing to the eye, is to add a quick 10 second sizzle reel of some of my favorite work. This will grab the audiences attention as soon as they open up my home page, with the intentions of having them stay on my page longer then 10 seconds.

Another idea that I have would be to make a slide show of photos that involve me doing my work. this can be another technique used to make my home page more appealing.

I can also remove a lot of the text information on the bottom half of the home page so that it prevents the audience from scrolling down. I want to create this page so that the audience can see everything they want to see without having to scroll up or down.

Maybe I can even add some positive feed back that Ive got from actual clients onto the homepage. 

My fifth and last idea, would be to synchronize all of my colors together so that is has a consistent, creative look within the colors and fonts.

BOC "Whatever Works"

The thirty minute clip that we watched in class today was short, but very entertaining. I felt that the sense of humor used in this film was very sarcastic, witty and intelligent. The daughter of two parents from the south, whom are very in tuned with their roots decided to run away to New York. She meets a man, who is much older than her and ends up getting married. The man that she is married to holds a reputation among his colleagues as genius. He is so much in to himself, that his perception on the world seems to be none thing but negative insight on how human civilization has failed. It seems to have somewhat of an effect on his wife I began to notice later in the clip. Since this paper is about her mother I’m going to get to the point. One day the wife gets an unexpected knock on the door. On the other side of the door was her mother. She was very surprised because she did not expect her to find her after running away. Anyways, long story short, the mother begins to completely change after staying with her daughter in the city of New York. Her mother finds a calling, and decides to embrace it. She meets a man, and that man opens her eyes into believing in herself. She has a skill and a passion for art and photography. With her new found free spiritual mentality, she begins to have more of an open mind and optimistic approach on certain situations that she would have never even though of back in the south. She takes these skills with her new found confidence and ends up meeting another man, whom is friends with the man she is already seeing.  This man happened to own an art gallery and gave her the opportunity to display her work. She became very excited over this new found way of thinking and opportunity. So much that she ends up being in a relationship with both men, all living in the same home. So within this thirty minute clip I was able to see how much art takes an influence on your inner spirit. I don’t mean this in a negative way either. She finally was able to express herself in ways that she was only able to dream of and one point in her life, but now she is living it. She is filled with confidence and is happy with her current relationship. Art has opened her up into becoming who she always wanted to be. You need to take a risk in life to get what you want. If she would have never packed her bags, see her daughter, or meet these men, she would have still been in a negative and depressed state of mind still trying to figure out who she is.

Week 3 EOC: The Deeper Meaning of "Swingers" (The Movie)

The exterior meaning of swingers is a humorous, love story about a man who recently got out of a break up and is trying to get his feet wet again. He moves to Las Vegas from New York with his buddy and decides to do some networking. He comes with the assumption that if he moves far away from New York he can get over his break up and get some solid gigs in his career as a comedian. The deeper meaning of swinger is his growth. From the time that he decided to move to Las Vegas until the end of the movie, he achieved so much personally. The entire movie was basically an interview. He met three women through out this whole process. As he began to involve him self in parties and mixers, he was very unsure of himself. Kind of like someones first time to an interview. He had no confidence. He didn't know how to talk about him self. Not talk about him self in a conceded way, but more in a way to where he gains interest in who he is talking to. As the movie went on, he began to gain his confidence. Finally after being rejected several times, he had a successful encounter. He met a lady in a bar, approached and began to strike conversation. This time he knew what to say, without making something up. He was real with him self, and wasn't ashamed of it. This women he spoke to saw that in him and was very interested. She turned out to be someone that can help him in his professional field and also someone he fell in love with. So the deeper meaning of this is learning how to engage, people with confidence, so that they can gain interest in you. You don't want to let an opportunity pass you be without you knowing its there. Practicing these techniques, will allow you to be successful, in almost any professional situation.
